Thai Cryptocurrency Speculators Use Tarot Cards To Read Market Signals And Forecast Prices

Last year, a Thai fortune teller claimed to have received information about the cryptocurrency market's recovery from the god of the dead. Investors in cryptocurrencies and stocks have always come up with creative, even absurd methods to predict the ups and downs of the market.

Many have proposed that precognitive dreaming, or the ability of our subconscious minds to make predictions about the future, might help us make sound investment decisions. Recently, however, some people have started to seek the counsel of chatbots that use artificial intelligence. However, as recently noted in a r/cryptocurrency post on Reddit, it appears that an increasing number of individuals in Thailand are using astrology and supernatural forces to forecast market moves, particularly cryptocurrency.

One astrologer, who is called Pimfah, runs a 160,000-member Facebook group where users may request and submit tarot card predictions. Some participants seek assistance in interpreting their forecasts in relation to the digital currency market. Ajarn Ton, another self-described destiny teller, has a YouTube channel with almost 26,000 followers where he has posted numerous videos in an effort to forecast the value of different cryptocurrencies utilizing astrology. Ton's latest emphasis is forecasting a jump of roughly 50,000% for Terraform Labs' crashed cryptocurrency Terra Luna Classic (LUNC), stating it might reach $0.029. Yet, it is now selling for less than $0.000055. These forecasts sometimes prove to be partially correct. High-profile psychic Mor Plai attracted local news shortly thereafter for her August 2022 prognosis of a cryptocurrency market rebound beginning that November. Taking into account the crypto cut around FTX's crash, her forecast turned out to be only partially correct.

In contrast to Thailand, which has an overwhelming proportion of Buddhists, spiritual views are not unusual, although they can draw skepticism in the West. According to a Pew Research poll from September, slightly more than eighty percent of Thais asked to support God, deities, or beings, and over half think spells, evil spirits, or other forms of magic have an impact on people's lives.
