The survey amassed insights from over 14,000 consumers and firms spanning 25 countries, revealing that nearly 75% of respondents are apprehensive about AI's unethical deployment. The survey outcomes spotlight that over 40% of participants lack trust in companies to use AI ethically, while almost 70% underscore the growing importance of companies upholding trustworthiness in tandem with the advancements of AI technology. Moreover, the survey signals a diminishing enthusiasm for adopting AI, a shift from the previous year's attitudes. In 2022, more than 80% of business buyers and 65% of consumers were open to leveraging AI for enhanced experiences, whereas these figures have declined to 73% and 51%, respectively.

Meanwhile, in a distinct survey undertaken by Australian market research firm Roy Morgan, involving close to 1,500 respondents, an intriguing discovery emerged – nearly 60% of participants believed that AI "creates more problems than it solves." Alarmingly, one in five respondents expressed concerns that AI could even lead to human extinction by 2043, echoing apprehensions voiced by AI experts who advocate for prioritizing global efforts to mitigate potential risks.

In a contrasting perspective, a study by Pew Research in the United States unveiled a lack of awareness, let alone engagement, with one of the most renowned AI chatbots. The survey, encompassing more than 5,000 American participants, disclosed that merely 18% had interacted with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Approximately a quarter of respondents were acquainted with the chatbot, predominantly among those under 30, of whom roughly 40% had utilized the bot at least once.

The Pew Research report further illuminated demographic patterns, indicating higher engagement with ChatGPT among men, individuals under 30, and those with postgraduate education. As global dialogues on AI regulation gain momentum, Pew's findings unveil intriguing insights – nearly 70% of those aware of ChatGPT expressed concerns about the government's inadequate measures to regulate AI chatbot usage. Remarkably, this sentiment traversed political affiliations within the United States. In a landscape characterized by both enthusiasm and skepticism, these surveys illuminate the evolving dynamics of public perception towards AI and its implications for various aspects of modern life.
